Here are some things I made for the display at Puyallup to show what TCC can do for little girls (and their dolls).

The base patterns used were --

Jumper:  Tank dress
Blouse:  Unfitted blouse with loose sleeve

Capri pants:  Loose elastic waist pants w/tulip patch pocket

Navy skirt:  3 Tier skirt

Watermelon skirt:  2 Tier skirt

Additional commentary and details are on my blog.

Really cute. Any little girl would be happy to have those clothes as part of her wardrobe.

Gayle's children's clothes and doll clothes are real eyecatchers in the booth.  They were hung up all around one of the towers, and drew lots of little girls, moms and grandmas in to check them out.

The Hildas (half-mannequins in marking tape, a skimmer and interesting variations on the basic blouse) are the other conversation pieces that lead people in.  The scrunchy cowl and the pleated Peter Pan collar were #1 and #2 hits among the Hildas.

Sounds like it was a successful conference!  Love the pics of the matching clothes. I'm sure my granddaughter would love some Smiley

some things I learned --

If you print the patterns at the same, you can cut the doll clothes when you cut the child's garment, easier to fit it into on-grain scraps

Same thing with sewing -- sew assembly line style so if there are thread changes, setting changes, stitch changes, presser foot changes, pressing, etc you don't have to think about it twice.  Do both garments in the same step and it will seem as if the doll item magically appears!

Do modify the doll item to make her easier to dress.  Leave CB or CF seams entirely open and close with velcro.  Same thing with some of the designs -- they don't have to match exactly so do what will make your life a little easier on the doll item.

For instance I have a matching blouse planned but on the child's am doing a CF button closure (with buttonholes).  For the doll I am cutting the front on the fold and just sewing on some buttons along CF.  The doll will have a back opening, velcro closure.
