Hi All,

John (DH) gave me an IOU for a new laptop for Christmas.  He told me I could get all the bells and whistles I want for it.
I have been looking at all the new computers and want advice on what would be good.  I have tried and do not want an apple, though my daughter swears be them.  Many of my programs just do not play nice on a Mac.

I have noticed the new Sandy Bridge chip and do want a laptop which will include it, which may take a while.  Hope to get a 17 inch screen, as it will mostly be a desktop replacement.  I will still have my smaller computer for traveling.

I will mainly use my computer for Complete Clothier, Embroidery software, graphic programs, word programs, and surfing.  Since many of my programs are graphic intensive, I want as much memory as possible, to keep it speedy.  I keep a lot of books, word docs, embroidery patterns, etc., and want a lot of hard storage.  I back up, but it is so much faster to find something if it is actually on the Computer I am using.  From what I understand, I will want Windows 7 professional on it, so that all my different software can be used. I skipped Vista, and the laptop I have uses XP.

Any advise anyone?

I have a Dell Studio with just about anything and everything you could get on it.  My hubby is the techie and ordered it for me.  The only problem I have found with it is that the user isn't anywhere near the level of what the computer can do.   Other than that, I love it!! The screen resolution is HD quality, the keyboard is friendly, and the accessories are immense.

I like HP laptops, but that is because I am used to them, and they have good updates.
