This was sewn almost about a year ago, but I'm posting now....

Gayle (the ST member) had to say...

Details about the blouse design:

Front:  Classic with jewel neckline.  That means it has one side bust dart and one vertical fisheye dart on each side.

Back:  Hippie empire.  This has the flared skirt which is a great fit for my <ehem> physique.

Sleeve:  Bell.  I shortened it, decreased the flare slightly, faced the bottom of the sleeve with a 3" bias facing, and sewed in a little notch at the side.

The embellishment got its inspiration from the fabric of the fitted pants that I will wear with it.  They are black with a faint khaki heathering to the fabric.  So for the blouse I topstitched with both black and beige thread combined by a double-eye Schmetz needle (two eyes, one above the other, on the same shank).  The buttons are shell buttons, but I used the back side instead of the "pretty" mother-of-pearl side.  This picks up the tones in the topstitching and adds just a slight "quirkiness" to the blouse.

I figure the embellishment is not so "matchy matchy" that I can't wear this red blouse with anything else since black, beige, and shell could be considered neutrals.

deja vu!

I didn't get much wear out of that blouse -- I was in a hurry when I made it and thought that if I pinked the seams it would be good enough.

Angry   it frayed seriously with the first laundering

I will have to make another with my current measurement chart.  I really liked those sleeves.

It was lovely - and too bad about the fraying! That happened to me on a bamboo fabric - I was very annoyed, but that is what you get when you "make do".

It's beautiful. So sorry to hear about the fraying too. The fabric has a beautiful drape to it and makes the pattern very nicely. I haven't ever heard of a double-eyed needle either. You learn something new every day Wink
