I just learned that I may have an opportunity to attend a technical conference in Boston.  Are there any fabric stores in that area that I should make an effort to visit while I'm there?

Not Boston -- but the current issue of Vogue Patterns (I found this on Sunday afternoon) has a great article on fabric stores in Chicago!

Of course Vogue Fabrics, Fishman's, and LZs were there  ... but there were a few the Divas missed on their fabric tour around the city.  I'll save the article for you so you can add new stops in November

oh jean   wish you could have seen them years ago...  if you will be in downtown boston, there still may be some left in waking distance of filene's basement.  my fav. north end fabrics closed ten years ago...
when we moved away, windsor button, winmill fabrics and several of the asian stores were still there. i used to take the t into downtown crossing and exit either up to filene's basement or to chauncey st. the windsor button is amazing.  winmill used to have the best lycra selection i had ever seen since stretch and sew days

framingham may still have the original fabric place but the rest of their stores have closed since I moved away.

had surgeru on my left wrist on monday and i am down to using my bad right hand

I think those still two still exist; they popped up when I googled.  If I have any free time at all I'm going to try to find one of them.

Hope your surgery went well and you'll be all better soon!
