New Monthly Contest Starts in November

November will be the first month of a new monthly contest. We have lots of people sewing with TCC now, and we want to do a better job of showing the rest of you what is being sewn. Each contest will run from the first to the last day of the calendar month. All entries (including documentation) must be submitted by the end of the last day of the month at midnight Central US time. Submissions details are posted in the CDC area of the forum. The submissions will have their pictures posted within 3 days and a CDC poll will open at the end of that posting. This poll will be to gather votes on CDC member favorites; it will run for one week and will close at midnight on the 7th day of the poll. This vote will be added to the judging panel's rating and the announcement of winner will be made on or before the 15th of the month.

The monthly prize will be a pattern line of choice from the published monthly list, with supplemental prizes announced from time to time. All of the monthly entries for the year (whether they win or not) will be part of a door prize drawing at the user conferences.

Rules -

Of course there are rules. First of all, entrants must put together a full outfit. In this case an outfit is defined as a set of garments for wearing in public, i.e., a dress, or pants+top, or skirt+top, etc. It may include layers (jacket, coat, etc.). The entire pattern needs to be TCC, with no pencil changes.

Submission must include:
   - Pictures of front, back and side on the body for which it was sewn (no dress forms - sorry!)
   - Print layout files (.ndx)
   - Tool labels

ST members, either core or extended, are not allowed to participate in the general contests, although they are encouraged to provide assistance and advice where asked. Periodically, we will run Staff Contests and have the CDC membership vote on the entries, but in general, this contest is for users.

Judging will be in two pieces - with 50% coming from the previously mentioned forum poll vote. The other 50% of rating will come from the TCC review team. The criteria for the review team is:

   - Overall Design (30%)
   - Fit (30%)
   - Use of tools (20%)
   - Use of fabric (10%)
   - WOW factor (10%)

We are all looking forward to seeing more of the wonderful clothes that the entrants will create!

It has been pointed out that with the holidays coming up that perhaps we should make the first couple of months' entries for this contest require only a single garment. I know that some of you are still working out your pants patterns, and we really want to see some garments! So November and December will require only a single garment!!
