Ahhhh - An evening cowl. Could put a matching cami under - just front

but it is a very flattering line!

looks very nice but I apparently do not know what a cowl is - I had a very different idea...

I have to say I'm curious as to what you knew as a cowl , i t could be it's just the picture... The print is so graphic it does lose some of the detail in a picture. There are different types of cowls, that can look very different as well.

In the 70s they sold tops with "oversize" turtlenecks as cowls ... is that what you were thinking of Marie?

I know they were everywhere, out of t-shirt knit, in solids and stripes.  It was just a wide tube of fabric, self faced that if pulled up would probably have gone to the top of the head.  They were worn either folded down once with the droop all at the center front ... or scrunched down.  I think it depended on the fabric.

I remember mine was blue.

Gayle's picture is one version of a cowl - another is a boat neck with soft folds in front...  Sorry, my explanation leaves something to be desired.

My thoughts on that is that they are actually all  cowl necks just different. This one is one that's cut into the garment and less of a "collar" but i think I would still think of the other ones as cowl necks as well. We will have those types of cowl collars in upcoming lines as well. The upcoming slouchy insert cowl is probably a bit more of what you are explaining in your last post which will be in a Quarterly line, i believe Quarterly II.

And here is the finished garment with sleeves and finishings. I added a same fabric band to the sleeve as well as the hem.

I don't interpret that as a cowl neckline ( collar ) but it sure is a beautiful plunging V-neck.  With that kind of body, and that style, we'd better start teaching the next crop of "younguns" how to sew because they are the only ones who can get away with that Wink

My favorite (and most flattering) blouse of all time was the yoked front with long, gathered-into-a-cuff sleeves, and the long necktie that made a floppy bow.  The fabric was probably a nylon or rayon.  It was extremely flattering.

It's hard to see the drape because of the print, but that is a beautiful blouse, Sara.  My daughters would love it, but not even they could wear Hilda's clothes.

Unfortunately, Hilda does not have any younger siblings to inherit the lovely clothes that Sara is making for her. Conversely, her weight it pretty stable and she does not mind wearing her clothes again and again. However, Barbie is a bit more demanding....

Not only would Hilda be a lil small for just about anyone but her flat back would really be interesting to see on a "real person". Looks like Hilda wll be wearing her own clothes until we find that girl...lol
