Pants that fit!

I finally made pants from my fitted pants skimmer from the TCC Workshop! Since I have a titled waist (I think that is what it is called.) I lowered the center front waist 3", tapering to 1/2" at the side seam and then tapering to the top edge of the center back seam. The pattern looks funny but I know that is what I need to do. I decided just to make an elasticized waist so I didn't put in the darts. (Since I had to lower the center front waist there weren't really any darts left!) There is so much of me in the front but there's not a lot of fabric. They fit great! They're the first pair of pants I made in 15 years!

I also made a pair of pants that fit. I used the slim-fit slack with an elastic waist. Discovered I need 18" at the hem to go over my clunky hospital-volunteer shoes, so I put 3" godets in the inseams. And I don't really like the waist as low in the front as I thought I did. So I took the elastic off again, put the pants on and the elastic over them and stood between two mirrors while I tweaked the pants and elastic till they were just right. Then pinned and marked and sewed it on again. Much better!
Next time I'll put the extra at the hemline to start with, and MAYBE take a bit out of the hip. Maybe not, because sitting down in your pants is a good thing!
Boy, did it feel good to throw my old Charlie Chaplin pants in the trash!

YEAH!!!! I am so pleased that you both have been able to get good garments now that your measurements are proved up. I would love pictures, even if you just send them privately. This is the sort of thing that keeps us going - thanks for sharing.
