We will be meeting at the Douglas Office at 10:00 a.m. on Feb. 16th to finish garments that will be worn at the Sew and Quilting Expo in Washington.

Hmmmmm....  A conundrum.  I'm traveling to the East Coast this weekend.  Have to see how the weather looks - may be able to join for the morning - but need to at least get to Toledo by eod Saturday

Sew News, the magazine, has a two page article re: Puyallup show.  In a little box on the bottom right side of the second page is request "for your favorite sewing destination" at the show.

I am going to email them with mine - even though I won't be there.

This is going to be brief - I drove all day and am organizing to go meet folk in the AM.

I saw the new drop (no, I didn't get a copy). It is faaaaaaaaaaaaaast!!!   

And the diagrams change with the changes you put in as you put them in!!!

I helped a teeny bit with the Puyallup stuff - had to leave mid-afternoon and Drive (that day also).  They are up to their armpits in cutting, sewing, finishing, pressing, organizing, ...

I did get to try on my jacket (Shoulder Princess for those who are waiting for it). I had too much ease in the back shoulder, and 'H's don't need flare in the front - just a hint.  (I used a bunch of defaults).  I'm going to fix the back princess seams and then will get pics and post >>however<< it will be a couple of weeks. I'm in NYState for the next 2 or 3 weeks, and no way to get pics.

But - I canNOT wait for that fast drop - it is going to be wonderful!

I promised......

OK - I fixed my jacket which has been pinned for the past month - all through my time in Poughkeepsie. The only change was to take 2inches out of the back across the shoulder blades - which was 2 extra inches of ease that I obviously didn't need. I basically straightened each of the 2 back side seams from about 5-6inches below the shoulder seam to a couple inches above the waist. That is all. 

I had added a few inches in length when I generated the pattern - maybe 2 or 3.

I just stuffed a couple shoulderpads in I found downstairs - these weren't made for the jacket or anything like that, but this should give you an idea. Looks like my left shoulder is higher than my right, which would make sense - where I carry a purse sometimes - and my back has been bothering me for the past month, so between that and the pads just stuffed in - still not bad at all.

Note - this is unlined home dec corduroy - so it doesn't 'flow' one little bit - but it is still pretty comfortable except not 'slippery' inside.

I'm going to try this again, but this time without the extra flare in the front - I am an H after all - like Kat says, a capital H.  I generated it with a straight front - and cut the front with the edge on the fold of the fabric - twice - which means it is self-faced all the way to the princess seam in front - talk about FAST. It has a mandarin collar.  I'll make it this way again, and also try one with a standard lapel.

I think this is going to be my favorite jacket pattern ever.

One additional piece of information - This was done with the corrected across chest/across back measurements to correct the armscye.  Kat had me test the pattern and I can't wait until it is in the downloadable pattern sets

And as I keyed that in last night - I was still wearing it and kind of hunched over my keyboard as one does, and the shoulders/back was still totally comfortable - AH ecstasy! I have very square and broad shoulders...

I might add that she looks even better in the jacket in person, than in the photographs. She did a very nice job of construction and it suits her body and movement very well.
